Learning the Foil Board

This class will improve your efficiency and your accuracy!

The foil board is the ultimate tool for improving speed without sacrificing quality. I learnt how to use a board at the first salon I ever worked at. I fought against it so hard. I thought I knew everything and would always put it down when my boss walked away. She insisted I learnt and I’m so glad I did. This tool has been key to my success, especially in the early days as a sole trader when there was no one to help. Even now having an assistant seems pointless when I’m using the board. It makes me so fast and I never have issues trying to awkwardly pick up foil. Of course it takes practice, lots and lots of practice. But once you master it you will never foil without the blush girl board.

What you will learn:

  • How to stack the board with foils

  • How to position the board on your body and client

  • How to hold it in awkward places

  • How to do a full head of foils using the board

+

Modern Foil Placement : Foil to the Roots

This foil placement class will cover all your bases without over doing it, ensuring perfect colour work every time.

We'll be focusing on the modern idea of lightness concentrated around the hairline. A process that is not particularly bold but rather mimics the natural lightening process of the hair.

Learn how not to over foil but instead be thoughtful with your placement. Learn how to create lightness in the right areas.

What you will learn:

  • Foil placement

  • Blonde toning

  • How to clean out the ends and keep them bright

  • Modern foiling techniques

Class 2
Date : Monday April 11 2022: 9:30am - 4:30pm

Basic Balayage & Face Framing

An essential skill all modern stylists should have.

Understanding where to place your foils can be hard as a stylist to wrap your head around and I have found through trial and error that every single person needs something a little different, from foil placement to weave depth to highlighting to low lighting, face framing, creating texture, combing baby fine foils with balayage... I’ve done it all. I think I’ve come up with some really practical ways to get the best result in a busy salon environment. I only ever balayage hair in a foil and only ever with my foil board.

I have spent years experimenting with face framing. When done well, this can be super impactful while still natural looking. When done wrong, it’s sososo bad, practice is key and minor adjustments depending on the hairline. If you want to be an on trend hair stylist you should have already nailed this technique.

What you will learn:

  • Foil placement

  • Weave, width and depth

  • How to tone your balayage and face frame

Class 3
Date : Monday April 18 2022 : 9:30am - 4:30pm

Balayage Correction : Highlight and Lowlight Combination

Step up your balayage game. Need to fix or revitalise a clients baly work? Then this class is for you.

It’s almost like a colour correction in many ways. You really need to take a step back and see where the natural fall is. Maybe your client has become over foiled. Does the hair need depth added?
A full head of low lighting and colour melt would be a short term fix and potentially leave your client feeling dark.

I'll show you how to create the perfect lowlight highlight combination to bring your client back to the perfect textured baly.

What you will learn:

  • Low lighting placement

  • Balayage correction

  • Foil placement

  • Weave, width and depth

  • How to tone your balayage

Class 4
Date : Monday April 25 2022: 9:30am - 4:30pm

Up Styling for the Gram

+

Hey up stylers you may not know this about me but up styling is my thing. I started my career as a wedding and formal up styler. I used to do the makeup until a few years ago when I stopped providing these services to make room for other work. I would love to pass on my skills for fast effective up styles while still creating extra for a pop and unique content creation.

What you will learn:

  • How to save time

  • How to create styles with minimal pins and fuss

  • How to prep your clients prior to the appointment

  • How to handle difficult hair

  • What products to use

Plus

  • Three ways to create eye catching up styles for the gram

Content Creation

If you can master smart content creation things will be much easier than it seems, I learnt this the hard way. At one point I had a whole team of stylists running around taking photos. It was really unprofessional. Now we have a smooth process that means everyone gets to be involved but the service we provide is protected. Also we arrange special days for fun content creation, like IGTV and reels photoshoots with our in house makeup artist. Let me help you. I'll show you how to make the most out of one shoot. Learn how to direct your client or model and make them feel comfortable. I'll also show you how to style a shoot to match your brand and heaps of other really useful tips for growing your team salon and client base.

What you will learn:

  • How to take a eye catching photo that stand out

  • How to direct your model to avoid awkward unflattering photos

  • How to film reels and IGTV

  • How to distribute your content

  • How to showcase the best parts of your salon

  • How to organise collaborations

  • How to build brand
